Nick Aguirre received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Alabama where he studied with Paul Houghtaling and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Voice and Opera Production/Administration. Nick currently teaches Middle School Choir and Drama at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, MS.
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Nick double majored in Vocal Performance and Economics at Vanderbilt University. He served as the director of the St. Francis Evening Chorale in Tuscaloosa, and has performed with Mississippi Opera, The Utah Festival of Opera and Musical Theatre, The University of Alabama Opera Theatre, Opera in the Ozarks, the Druid City Opera Workshop, the Birmingham Music Club, Vanderbilt Opera Theatre, and the American Institute of Musical Studies. His favorite operatic roles include; Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi, Frank Marraunt in Street Scene, and Dandini in La Cenerentola.
Nick enjoys composing, playing soccer, and jogging around Jackson, and he is beyond thrilled to be working with Mississippi Opera!
