CABARET @ DULING FEB 22 AT 7:30 PM: A NEW YORK STATE OF MIND with JOHN CHRISTOPHER ADAMS
Jackson, MS—Monday, Feb 22, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., at Duling Hall in historic Fondren, Mississippi Opera presents A NEW YORK STATE OF MIND, the third Musical Theatre show of their Cabaret at Duling 2015-16 season.
“There is a certain something about New York that you just can’t put your finger on, an excitement in the air that permeates your being. New York influences everything from commerce to finance to media to art to fashion…its reach is endless. From Broadway to Blues, Sinatra to Sondheim, this concert will capture what it means to be alive in the city that never sleeps!” said Mississippi Opera Artistic Director Jay Dean.
“We are so excited about featuring the work and incredible voice of Mississippi’s very own John Christopher Adams,” said Mississippi Opera Executive Director Tippy Garner. “With ‘a major, stunning voice’ (Opera News), John Christopher Adams is quickly establishing himself on stages around the world. And now he’s joining us for our Cabaret @Duling Series,” she added.
A native of Fannin, Mississippi, Adams studied Drama and Music with Mrs. Karen Streit and Ms. H.G. Morgan. Under their tutelage, he received several honors including induction into the Mississippi Thespian Hall of Fame and being named the Nation's Top Performer by the International Thespian Society in 2001. He is a 2006 graduate of the Mississippi College Department of Music where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance. He recently completed studies in Vocal Performance and Opera at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music.
